Cremen - das war´s?
Prof. Bamberger als Experte in einer Geschichte über gesunde Ernährung
At the beginning of the 21st century the industrial nations stand before a challenge which cannot be overrated in dimension and importance for their further development: the progressive aging of the entire population. The consequences of this process are already evident with the increase in age-related diseases such as heart attacks and malignant tumors. The conventional "repair medicine" is no longer able to slow down or even stop the process. Only preventive medicine can contribute to allowing the ever aging people a healthy and happy second half of life. It is essential to begin with preventive medicine as soon as possible, ideally as of the age of 30. Nonetheless, numerous studies proven that preventive medicine applied even at the age of 70 can lead to a better quality of life and longer life.
We age because our cells age. And cell aging means that over the years, permanent damage is done to the DNA, i.e. the genes within the core of every cell, and the cell proteins and -lipids. This is not surprising as many harmful influences affect our cells every day: Free radicals, which are continuously developed in even healthy metabolisms and are amplified by environmental influences such as tobacco toxins, chemicals, UV-light and radioactive rays. If our cells had not developed efficient protection mechanisms against these aggressors, we would age much faster. The DNA repair enzymes are the most important protection factors which recognize and repair the damage done to the genes straight away and the so-called antioxidants or scavengers, which neutralize the ever attacking free radicals. According to latest findings, certain hormones can also have a protecting effect and slow the process of cell aging down. So the reason for our aging is the imbalance of damaging and protecting factors. The task of the preventive medicine is to tip the scales in favor of the protecting factors.
The aging process is related in a higher or lesser degree to the following symptoms which can occur already as of the age of 35:
This list demonstrates that aging is more of a cosmetic and wellbeing issue for most people rather than being a disease itself. However, due to the increased risk of becoming ill, the medical aspects of aging represent the core problem.
It is characteristic for the so-called civilization diseases such as cardiovascular diseases or malignant tumors to develop slowly over several years and not suddenly appear. This is exactly where the opportunities lie for the 4-step prevention concept developed by Prof. Bamberger.
A heart attack for example is the result of a long-term disease process, with cholestrial plaques and calcification causing an increased narrowing of the coronary vessels. When detected at an early stage, a change in lifestyle and medication can counteract effectively. Bowel cancer nearly always develops from harmless polyps which, when diagnosed in time, can easily be completely removed.
Up until today, such early diagnoses were insufficient. Due to the development of new technologies, fundamental changes have taken place. The whole body magnetic resonance imaging (MRi), which has only been available for a few years, is the most modern, most gentle and most elegant of these technologies. With the support of the whole body MRI, pathological changes throughout the entire body, from the brain and blood vessels to the inner organs, can be detected at an early stage, increasing the chances of healing them completely.
